Smita is a Partner at LexStart Partners and has 14 years of experience in the general corporate advisory space. 

 

At LexStart Partners, Smita heads the General Corporate Team, where she advises a large portfolio of clients from diverse sectors on matters ranging from contracts, structuring, transactions, employee documentation, and other labour law-related issues. She routinely advises both funds and startups, on all internal and external contracts, internal policies, and employee relations and grievances. She works closely with her clients who appreciate her attention to detail and her business approach to contracts. 

 

Smita has been actively involved in general employment law matters including complaints relating to sexual harassment and misconduct/ internal disciplinary hearings, and drafting of employees related policies and contracts. She has conducted several POSH workshops for the employees of her clients- both in-person and virtual. 

 

Smita has been recognized by BW Legal World in its Top 40 under 40 Club of Lawyers, Legal Leaders and Legal Influencers of 2022. Prior to joining LexStart Partners, she worked as an Associate in the General Corporate Team at erstwhile Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff. She graduated at the top of her class from Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar. 

 

In her free time, Smita loves to read, work out and watch Formula 1 races. She is fluent in English, Hindi and Bengali.
